A Word From Klaus Bolle
Adult non-swimmers have a physical, but even more so a psychological problem, that has kept them from learning to swim.
Lifelong Fear – What does an adult (burdened by life-long Fear of water) feel, watching a child effortlessly crossing a pool? That one has to be young, fit and fearless? Nothing could be further from the truth! We taught 30,000 adults to swim in 4 days and always guaranteed their success!
Feeling Embarrassed – Adult non-swimmers are convinced, that every adult can swim. According to U.S. government statistics, (CDC) 70 Million or 35% of all adults in the U.S. are non-swimmers!
Questionable Teaching Conditions – Adults, finally deciding to learn to swim, often encounter teaching conditions and methods, which make succeeding less likely or even impossible.
Swimmers using the Same Pool Area – make it difficult for adults to concentrate on lessons.
Spectators, Hotel Guests & Children – make adult beginners feel watched and embarrassed.
Non-Shaded Outdoor Pools – require protective clothing against sunburn and to stay warm.
Water Temperature below 90 F. prevents muscles, already tightened by fear, to relax.
Instructors, lacking Compassion/Patience/Experience, do more Harm than good.
Weeks between Lessons, delay water familiarization and muscle memory development.
Negative Experiences – 90% of our students tried before to learn to swim and failed, resulting in lost time, effort & money.
Fear and its Purpose? – Many adult’s fear borders on panic. Of course you are fearful, being aware of the possibility and danger of drowning, should you come too close to water. So you stay away and possibly save your life.
U.S. Drownings – In 2004, according to the CDC, 4454 children drowned in the U.S.! Numbers for adults are even higher, due to fishing and boating activities, especially in states with extensive coastal areas.
How many more would have drowned, if fear would not have been a helpful, preventing factor? Accept your fear. It is there for a Life saving Reason!
